New Music Catch Up

There have been quite a few good new tunes released over the last few weeks that you may have missed. So take a look below to get you back on track with some of the standout tracks of what is going on in the world of music.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros released their second track "Life" off of their forthcoming self-titled album. The song is a somber tune with a downtrodden beat that somehow comes off as uplifting in such a way that very few bands can successfully pull off. Definitely looking forward to the new album which will be out July 23rd.

After releasing one of my personal favorite albums in 2011 with Never Trust A Happy Song, I've really been looking forward to seeing how Grouplove would follow up such a fantastic album. Well it looks like we finally got our first taste of new music when the band released a new song and video with "Ways To Go" and any questions you may have had about a sophomore slump coming into play should no longer be in your head. The bands signature sound along with their funloving attitude seem to have not been affected by their previous album's success. New album Spreading Rumours will be available September 17th.

Okkervil River released their first single off of their upcoming The Silver Gymnasium album with this creative little lyrics video. And what we can take away from the new song "It Was My Season" is that new music from Okkervil River is always a good thing and this new album should quickly rise to the top of your list of ones to buy after hearing just this one tune. The Silver Gymnasium will be released on September 3rd.

If it wasn't already apparent to you, the Wavves kind of live in their own little world. And to make this quite clear are their new visuals for "That's On Me" in which a man with all sorts of clean cutting swords and hatchets goes to town on pretty much anything thing he can find in super slow-motion. Then, to make things right, he serves a group of cheerleaders who had been watching and cheering along some delicious barbeque ribs which they chow down quite messily. Yup, I'm sure it makes sense to the guys in Wavves in some way or another...

The Postal Service gave their bonus track "A Tattered Line Of String" the proper video treatment with this bizarre portrayal of one man's laundromat misadventure. I don't really get it, but this is still probably the closest thing we will ever get to new music from The Postal Service so might as well post it.

And lastly we have another new single from everybody's favorite gypsy punks Gogol Bordello. Their latest track "Lost Innocent World" comes with that fast-paced beat that gets your legs moving the instant the song starts. This one will be featured on GB's Pura Vida Conspiracy album which is due out July 23rd...
